The Acorns lies in a quiet residential suburb off John Hall Way within easy reach of High Wycombe town centre. The development consists of 31 flats in two-storey buildings and was completed in 1988 by Ideal Retirement Homes. There is parking within the development.

High Wycombe is mentioned as Wicumbe in Domesday and had six mills. The name derives from 'at the dwellings or settlements' and the river-name 'Wye' is likely to be a 'back-formation' from the place-name. High Wycombe has some good shopping facilities with many specialist shops and most national stores represented. There is a large Asda Superstore only a five minute drive from The Acorns. Annually there are several festivals that take place in the town including the Wycombe Arts Festival and the Wycombe Show in September. There are several places of interest nearby and West Wycombe Park has country walks, recreation areas and a Palladian Mansion with fine landscaped gardens. Marlow Hill gives a panoramic view of the area stretching into the Vale of Aylesbury to the west and woodland to the east.
