Plymouth Court  is the only Court which consists entirely of bungalows, set in extensive landscaped grounds. The Court was built in two phases, opening with 39 bungalows in 1985, with a further 13 being added in 1988.

A Manager ensures the smooth administration of the Court and in addition, a team of Duty Managers operate a rota system , 24 hours a day. A larger team of Housekeeping Assistants provide one-and-a-half hours of domestic help to each single Owner or couple every week as well as keeping the communal areas clean and tidy.

At each Court, a comfortable dining room provides a substantial meal every day, usually at lunch time at a modest price for everyone who wishes to have it. Meals can be taken to Owners who are unwell. Help can be offered to provide other meals and snacks if required.

Birmingham was mentioned in Domesday as Bermingeham and its name seems to derive from 'Beorma's people's homestead'. It lies about eight miles to the north of the M42 motorway which connects with the M25 to the south-west and M40 to the south-east. It was not until the 19th century that the town saw major expansion through the ready availability of cheap labour and natural rescources such as coal and iron. Good communications assisted the town on its way to prosperity with miles of canals in the 18th, railways in the 19th and roads in the 20th century.
