Cartmel Court consists of 17 one and two-bedroom flats built in 1989.

Facilities include non-resident management and emergency alarm service.

Deeping St James was mentioned in Domesday as Depinge and had a fishery. It is a large village close to Market Deeping and was originally centred round the old Benedictine Priory demolished in the 16th century with much of the stone being used to build new houses. The village still has the 'village lock-up' which was built from the remains of a 15th century wayside cross. The village has some pubs and restaurants and is only three miles from the larger centre of Market Deeping.
