Hyne Town House has created two apartments within The Gatehouse and a bungalow situated within the grounds of the Care Home. The new properties are purpose built and finished to a high standard providing accommodation for up to two people.

The house, an attractive Georgian period Vicarage, has been extensively refurbished and offers comfortable accommodation for up to 39 residents, with a further six places available within the three Sheltered Housing Assisted Living apartments.

 

Facilities include the use of the Home's gardens with spectacular views of the sea and join in all the social events and professional concerts that regularly take place at Hyne Town House. The Home can arrange visits from GP's, District Nurses, Opticians and Dentists as well as the in-house provision of a hairdresser, chiropodist, library and fortnightly Holy Communion.

The accommodation has a private entrance, living room, dining area, fitted kitchen with oven, hob, fridge and washing machine, double bedroom and large bathroom with shower. Satellite television is available and the layout is designed to offer easy access to help maintain as much independence as possible. An emergency call facility is fitted to ensure professional help is quickly on hand if needed.

 

Totnes was known as Totenais in Domesday and is one of England's oldest boroughs. It probably derived its name from 'Totta's headland' and lies at the highest navigable point on the River Dart about eight miles north-west of Dartmouth. It was once a Saxon market centre with a mint and some of the old Saxon walls and ruined remains of its castle can still be seen.

There are many Elizabethan and Georgian houses and the historic Brutus stone is set in a pavement near the restored 15th century East Gate. One of Brutus' descendants, Aeneas, is reputed to have founded the Kingdom of Britain after his long voyage from Troy.
