Just a short walk from Verulamium Museum is the Roman Theatre, the best preserved example in Britain and closeby are the foundations of a Roman town house and a sacred shrine and a row of Roman shops. The museum of St Albans is situated in Hatfield Road and you can trace the rise of At Albans from a market town and coaching centre to a modern commuter city. To the south of the city in Chiswell Green are the world-renowned Gardens of the Rose - headquarters of the Royal National Rose Society.
