Markers : Markers is situated off Markers Road close to the centre of Uffculme. The development consists of 44 bungalows and flats with communal facilities completed in 1986.

Facilities : Facilities include an alarm service and resident manager, residents' lounge, laundry and guest facilities.

Uffculme : Uffculme is mentioned in Domesday as Offecome and already had two mills. Its name probably derives from ' Estate on the Culm river held by a man called Uffa'. The village is situated in the Blackdown Hills close to the border with Dorest about five miles north-west of Cullompton. It was once an important part of the local wool industry and many of its serges were exported to Holland. With the introduction of better breeds of sheep in the later Middle Ages with finer fleeces wool production became more profitable. Devon became one of the leading textile counties with prosperous weavers producing fine cloth.
