Chasefield Close: Chasefield Close consists of twenty-six bungalows and flats close to shops and was completed in 1984.

Facilities: These include a resident manager and emergency alarm service, laundry and gardens. There are regular bus services to Guildford city centre along the London Road and it is just a short walk to the Parish Church of Christ.

Burpham: Burpham is mentioned in Domesday as Borham and is thought to derive from old English meaning a 'homestead near the stronghold or fortified place'. Today it is a residential centre to the north west of Guildford with good local shopping including restaurants, banks, bakery, post office, wine shops, delicatessen, sports shops and Doctor's Practice. There is easy access to the A3 to the north of the city.

Guildford itself is an equally ancient settlement but today it is a bustling centre with modern shopping facilities in the High Street and most major department stores represented. There are many attractive buildings not least the Tudor Grammar School founded in the early sixteenth century, the imposing Guildhall, and the Abbot‘s hospital. The writer and politician William Cobbett was born nearby and he thought Guildford was ‘the prettiest, and taken altogether the most agreeable and most happy-looking town that I ever saw in my life‘.

The Cathedral can easily be seen on top of its hill surveying the town. It was started in 1936 to designs by Sir Edward Maufe and was finally consecrated in 1961. Nearby is the University of Surrey and the well-known Yvonne Arnaud Theatre which was opened on the banks of the River Wey in 1958. The River Wey was an important trade route to London and first opened to barge traffic in the seventeenth century assisting the town‘s rise to prosperity.
