Banstead : Banstead is mentioned in Domesday as Benstede with a mill and a church and its name seems to have derived from 'bean' - a place where beans are grown. Today is is an attractive market town with a good range of shops set on the northern slopes of the Downs about three miles south-east of Epsom.

Banstead is situated about four miles from Junction 8 of the M25 motorway with Junctions 7/8 and the M23 motorway about eight miles to the east. Central London is about 17 miles. Reigate is six miles, Leatherhead seven miles and Croydon eight miles. Fast Trains to London (London Bridge) take about three quarters of an hour. Gatwick Airport is about 16 miles.
