Ketton is a small village some three miles from Rutland Water and about the same distance from Stamford, originally capital of the Fens. Stamford is a very attractive and historic market town with many notable period buildings. Burghley House, south of the town and ancestral seat of the Cecils, was completed in 1587 and is one of the finest examples of late Elizabethan architecture. It is open to the public in the summer months.
