Halsdown Gardens is situated off the Exeter Road to the north of Exmouth and consists of close care bungalows in the grounds of the adjoining nursing home.

Facilities include a manager and emergency alarm service, dining room, laundry and garden.

Exmouth is situated on the eastern shore of the River Axe and derives its name from 'mouth of the River Exe'. It is thought to be the longest-established seaside resort in the country with many traditional attractions. The town has several Georgian houses and a circular 18th century house called A La Ronde stands about two miles to the north of the town.

In the 16th century Exmouth was still a small village and it wasn't until the 17th century that the town started to take on its present form. Its sandy beaches attracted the mercantile classes from nearby and further afield and it soon established itself as a seaside resort. The coming of the railways in the 19th century further promoted the seaside attractions and much of the town was built during the Victorian period.
