Allcourt : The heart of this development is Allcourt Meadow with its small pond. It is managed as a traditional pastoral landscape with a cycle of late summer haymaking and winter grazing to encourage a natural and colourful variety of wild flowers, grasses and wildlife. A few minutes walk brings you to the centre of Lechlade.

The 20 cottages flank either side of the meadow and recent excavations have revealed evidence of Roman activity and later Anglo-Saxon settlement. In 1066 the manor of Lechlade was owned by Siward, probably a great-nephew of Edward the Confessor. At the time of the Domesday Survey twenty years later, it was the property of Henry de Ferrers and included three mills, a ‘fishery of 175 eels‘ and fifty-three inhabitants.

Facilities include a visiting estate manager and internet office in West Allcourt, landscaped grounds and two acres of meadow below the development. Most of the cottages have sun rooms and all have a garage. Each property has an alarm system so that the manager can be contacted in an emergency.

Lechlade-on-Thames is an attractive market town well placed to enjoy Cotswold Life. With its wide streets and elegant houses the town has a typical Cotswold quality with shops and Georgian houses clustering around the Market Place dominated by the slender spire of St Lawrences Church. There is a range of shops and local amenities as well as specialist shops, restaurants and pubs such as the Trout Inn, which dates back to 1472. The Roman town of Cirencester lies 12 miles to the west. The pretty villages of Bibury, with the ancient terraced cottages of Arlington Row, and Kelmscot, the riverside home of William Morris, are both close by.

Tenure: Leasehold. There are no ground rents at this development
