The delightful market town of Midhurst sits at the foot of the South Downs in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with Cowdray Park, the estate of the Viscount Cowdray and its ruins forming an attractive backdrop. Nearby towns include Petworth, Chichester, Petersfield and Haslemere, the latter having an excellent train service to London. A jumble of attractive period streets provide a supermarket, chemist, post office, a full range of shops and restaurants, some excellent hotels including the Angel and the Spread Eagle. Well known for its carnivals and festivals Midhurst also offers regular amateur dramatic productions at the Grammar School and the famous Chichester Festival Theatre is within easy reach. The Grange Centre offers sports and leisure facilities, a community centre and regular fairs and exhibitions.

Midhurst is about seven miles due south of Haslemere at the crossroads of the Sussex Downs with Petersfield eight miles to the west and Petworth six miles to the east along the A272. Chichester is about eleven miles to the south and Liphook eight miles to the north west. Fast trains to London (Waterloo) take a little over an hour.
