Chorleywood was originally known as just Chorley with the 'wood' being added in the sixteenth century. Today the Chorleywood Common Conservation Area amounts to about 250 acres and there are many delightful walks through the woodland areas surrounding the village. The celebrated Victorian architect C.F.A Voysey designed many of the houses in the village including his own. Chorleywood has a good selection of shops and a railway station with underground and mainline links.
