Drakes Close consists of 48 flats around two courtyards and is situated off Anson Way to the north of the town centre.

Facilities include a resident manager and emergency alarm service, communal lounge, laundry, guest facilities and gardens.

Bridgwater is set between the Mendip and Quantock Hills and is mentioned in Domesday as Brugie and had a mill on the River Parret and in the twelth century was known as Bridgwaltier. It lies below the Somerset Levels about eight miles north-east of Taunton and in the middle ages it was quiet an important port. Today in the centre of town the roads either side of the river are West Quay and East Quay and Blake Street further south is named after the famous British Admiral. The Duke of Monmouth set off from the town to loose the battle of Sedgemoor in 1685 when his rebellion was finally crushed. Today Bridgwater remains a busy town by-passed by the M25.
