HISTORY

Warnham is an ancient settlement and whilst not mentioned in Domesday a chucrh is known to have been in Warnham in the 11th century. It was probably on the site of the present church of St Margaret which stands in a commanding position opposite Farebrothers, in the east area of the parish. Percy Bysshe Shelly was baptized in the church in September 1792. The place name Warnham is a combination of the Old English personal name Werna, and Ham, a village.

Warnham: The delightful village of Warnham lies about two miles northwest of the busy market town of Horsham. The village has a selection of small shops and a variety of inns and a mainline railway station with services to London Victoria in around an hour and ten minutues. The development was named after a previous vicar of Warnham to whom there is a memorial in the Church.

The nearby town of Horsham is the nearest town in the area and mixes the old with the new having extensive shopping and entertainment facilities as well as excellent restaurants, inns, surgeries, library and hospital. There are also sporting facilities and leisure centre. The rolling hills of the South Downs and the High Weald provide excellent walking country.
