Dunsley Place was built by Charles Church in 1989 and consists of seventeen houses and flats in what was once the orchard and kitchen garden to the neighbouring Rothschild Estate. It is just a few minutes walk through the adjoining Memorial Gardens into the centre of Tring. The properties overlook Tring Mansion and Tring Park and across the London Road is the Recreation Ground.

Tring is mentioned in Domedsay as Tredwye with two mills and lies in the Bulbourne Valley in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The grounds of Garden House lie on the site of Lower Dunsley, a hamlet demolished in the 1800s to make way for the 'new' London Road. This is flanked by a Grade II listed wall dating from the 19th century and marked by a Victorian cast iron milestone which appears near the entrance to Dunsley Place.

Tring has its own modern shopping centre adjacent to the old town and the Tring Museum houses a spectacular collection of wildlife specimens collected by the Rothschild family over several generations. There are numerous sports facilities in the area: the town has its own sports and leisure centre and angling, sailing, gliding, and shooting are all available nearby as is Champneys Health Club. Also the Tring and Aylesbury Hunt, badminton and bowls and golf at six locations in the area.
