Fast trains to London (Victoria) take less than an hour.

Directions: As you approach East Grinstead from the south along the A22 you reach a roundabout before going on into Beeching Way. At the roundabout turn left into Lewes Road (B211) and in a short distance turn left inot Fairfield Road and the entrance to Great House Court is on the left.

East Grinstead: East Grinstead lies about seven miles to the north east of Crawley which was just a village in the sixteenth century whilst East Grinstead was the main town north of Ashdown Forest. Here in this part of The Weald woodland survived almost intact until the eighteenth century. The manufacture of glass became important due to the large deposits of local iron ore and other minerals together with wood and charcoal for fuel and running water.

The town has many fine buildings in amongst modern shopping malls. Cromwell House is 15th century and St Margarets Convent is now housing. Beautiful Sackville College is a Jacobean almshouse founded in the early seventeenth century by the Earl of Dorset for poor and disabled people and is built in the local sandstone.
