Orpington was already a large village at the time of Domesday and belonged to the Archbishop of Canterbury with two churches and two mills. The town has a church with vestiges of pre-conquest times and the Priory Museum houses items of local interest. The M25 passes to the east so communications with London and the southeast are very good.
