Tixover village is just a mile or so away from Tixover Grange along quiet country lanes which cross the main Leicester-Peterborough road and the River Welland. The area around Rutland Water, a few miles to the west of Tixover and the largest man-made reservoir in England, offers various outdoor activities including sailing, riding and fishing.

Tixover Grange itself is a fine example of a modest country house set in acres of Rutland countryside and built in the middle of the nineteenth century in the local Lincolnshire limestone. The house and the adjoining courtyard cottages look southwards to the lake across the paved and lawned terraces of the original formal gardens. Beyond the lake, the River Welland forms the southern boundary of the estate and also that of the historic county of Rutland. To the north, through the mature woodland setting, is Welland Meadows and the old carriageway once linking the villages of Tixover and Ketton and this can still be seen.
