St James Oaks : St James Oaks is situated off Trafalgar Road to the south of the town centre and the last phase was completed in 1988. Altogether there are 106 flats and bungalows within a secure setting and within walking distance of shops.

Gravesend : Gravesend was mentioned as Gravesham in Domesday and spelt Grauefend in the sixteenth century. It is thought that the name originally derived from 'the place at the end of the Grove' and belonged to the Bishop of Bayeux in the eleventh century.

Today it is a residential and industrial town and still a major port with a pasenger ferry operating across the Thames estuary to Tilbury. It remains the customs and pilot station for the Port of London. A statue of Princess Pocahontas stands in the former churchyard at St Georges. She saved the life of John Smith in Virginia and died in England in 1617. The town has good shopping and excellent communications.
