Quorn is an attractive village about five miles southeast of Loughborough famous for the Quorn Hunt founded in the 18th century. Also for the quarrying of stone since the Iron Age and subsequently during the Roman occupation for buildings in Leicester. The village has a railway station which is part of the Great Central Steam Railway and comes to light every year celebrating the 5th November. In the 19th century framework knitting was a major employer as with many other local villages and today the old mill Quorn Mill still produces high quality textiles. Quorn House was home to the Farnham family from the 13th century until the 20th.
