Elham : Elham is mentioned in Domesday as Alham and probably derives its name from Ulaham which is referred to in a 9th century charter. It lies about five miles north of Folksetone in the Elham valley within the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the North Downs. It is an attractive village with old buildings and St Marys Chucrh dates from the 13th century and has a fine chancel arch. The village square also dates from the same century when Edward I granted the village its market.
