Camborne lies just south of the main A30 in an area noted for tin mining about four miles southwest of Redruth. Remains of old mine engine-houses and chimneys are a landscape feature and the local museum tells the story of the once famous industry with numerous artefacts and displays of archaeological and historical interest. Five original Cornish beam-engines have been donated to the National Trust.
