Retirement Properties Spotlight in Southgate

Southgate: Southgate is about two miles to the west of Winchmore Hill and is set around the now famous Charles Holden Southgate tube station and a variety of shops and restaurants. Its name derives from being the south gate to Enfield Chase and the hamlet was mentioned in a 12th century charter. Enfield Chase became an important hunting ground in the later middle ages and Elisabeth I later hunted in the Chase after she was granted the estate of West Lodge Park by her brother.
