Retirement Properties Spotlight in Lee-on-the-Solent

Lee-on-the-Solent : The area has long been associated with the days of Britains maritime power and Lee-on-the-Solent was the most western part of the Armed Forces defence network backing onto the ridge at Portsdown. Nearby Gosport stands at the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour opposite the famous naval dockyard. The town grew up around the ferry terminal for Portsmouth and expanded considerably in the nineteenth century. To the south of the ferry is the submarine museum and to the north the training ship 'Foudroyant' originally built as a 46-gun frigate. Stokes bay to the south is a long shingle beach.
