Drayton is mentioned in Domesday and lies on the mainland about four miles north of Portsmouth but is now a residential area of the city. Portsmouth with its famous historic ships and dockyard, is where the Royal Navy has been based for more than 500 years. There are numerous museums and places to see as the area is rich in history.
