Retirement Properties Spotlight in Holt

Holt : Holt is mentioned in Domseday and had a market, five mills and 140 sheep and developed at a crossing point of two ancient by-ways. It became a small market town in the middle ages and in the early 18th century the town was all but destroyed in a great fire and this forms the basis of its Georgian heritage. Gresham's school was founded in the 16th century by the Gresham family. Sir Thomas Gresham was Lord Mayor of London and founder of the Royal Exchange. Holt Country Park is a short distance from the town and the Lowes is an area of Heathland of around 120 acres to the south also open to the public.
