Chester : Chester is an attractive city situated on the River Dee with Roman Walls, a beautiful Cathedral, and fine half-timbered houses and cobbled streets. There are many shops, buildings and places of interest to be visited and good sporting facilities for the active. With its flowerbeds and shady trees there are beautiful walks in Grosvenor Park which was a gift from the second Marquis of Westminster in 1867. Chester is an ancient walled city and has a colourful medieval appearance even to this day. It is unique in a number of ways: It has the best preserved enclosing ramparts of any other British city - Chester was the headquarters of the 20th Roman legion and the galleried pedestrian streets known as The Rows, dating from the Middle Ages, have never known traffic.
