Bristol is a Cathedral city full of museums, art galleries and historic buildings such as St Mark's on College Green which is one of the finest examples remaining in England of the church of a mediaeval hospital. Temple church is famous for its leaning tower and Red Lodge in Park Row has furnishings in both 16th and 18th century styles. The city still retains links with its commercial past - long-established wine merchants such as Avery's and Harvey's of Bristol continue their business.

Bristol is about 86 miles west of London and about 11 miles northwest of Bath. Pucklechurch is about seven miles and Long Ashton four miles. The M5 and M4 are both within five miles and the M32 at J3 less than a mile. Fast trains to London (Paddington) take about an hour and a half.
