Market Weighton is an attractive market town situated between the city of York and the European Ferry Port of Hull and is within a short travelling distance of the East Coast holiday towns of Bridlington and Filey and the Cathedral town of Beverley.
The area aound Market Weighton has long been settled and nearby at Arras there is an Iron Age Barrow. However by the end of the 11th century the East Riding of Yorkshire had suffered severe depopulation along with its two neighbouring administrative centres and tok some time to recover. The part 11th century church has some fine arcades dating from the 13th century. |
