Coupar Angus is a small town about five miles south of Blairgowrie situated on the southern side of the River Isla. Coupar Angus Abbey was founded in the 12th century and at the time was one of the foremost monasteries in the country. The Abbey was eventually dissolved in the 17th century. The area around the town is famous for its berry growing and is an important soft fruit production area.
