Burnham is an ancient settlement first mentioned in Domesday and once the site of a 12th century Augustinian abbey. Burnham Beeches, now a country park, was once part of the huge forest which had spread across the Chilterns since prehistoric times. Today Burnham is a large village with good local shopping including two mini-supermarkets, a post office, bakery, chemist, hairdresser and dry cleaners. There is also a weekly market and antiques fair.
The area has much to offer with several golf courses nearby and many places of interest to visit. Cliveden with its famous gardens is two miles and the attractive towns of Marlow and Windsor with all their facilities are within easy driving distance.
