The town has many delightful thatched cottages and Georgian Houses and whilst the River Avon curls round its southern perimeter the Kennet and Avon Canal passes about a mile north. There are many lovely walks to be enjoyed in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside which varies from rolling chalk uplands to woodlands and river valleys. The most famous perhaps is the Ridgeway which ends in Avebury. Badminton is nearby and there is flat racing through the year at Salisbury.
