Longbridge Deverill is south of Warminster and is in area that has long been settled with Iron age barrows and Neolithic henges. Its name refers in part to the River Deverill and it remained a small farming community for much of the middle ages. in the 19th century many people emigrated due to the lack of employment opportunities.
