Find retirement developments in some of the finest towns and villages in Billingham
Billingham is thought to derive its name from 'Billa's' people who settled here in the 7th century. St Cuthberts parish church has a distinguished Anglo-Saxon tower built in the 10th century and the old village is centred here. In the early 20th century ICI ( Imperial Chemical Industries) became a major employer and the town expanded. Billingham Beck Valley Country Park is a local nature reserve formed from reclaimed industrial land. The town has a good range of shops and services and more comprehensive facilities are available at Middlesbrough about three miles away.
