Find retirement developments in some of the finest towns and villages in Brecon
Brecon is the old county town of Brecknockshire sheltered by hills and close to where the River Usk meets the Honddu. Its name is thought to derive from ' territory of Brychan'. The Brecon Beacons were designated a National Park in 1957 and became part of the National Trust in 1965. They include the Black Mountain range to the east and are a popular tourist destination. The town was once an important cloth centre and has several old buildings and narrow streets. The Royal Regiment of Wales has a museum here.
