Haddington lies on the northeast bank of the River Tyne about 20 miles east of Edinburgh and received burghal status in the 12th century. It was once the fourth largest town in Scotland and famous for its mills. Amisfield House was an important palladian building but all that remains is the summer house, chapel and walled garden. Today Haddington is a small town with a famous church being the longest in Scotland.
