Walton-on-the-Naze is a small seaside family resort with sandy beeches about a mile north of Frinton-on-Sea. Its pier at nearly half a mile long is the second largest in England and was rebuilt after the first pier proved to be too short and destroyed in a storm. At the height of its popularity the town was well known for its sea holly and this was sold for its supposed aphrodisiac qualities. The local bus service links Walton with the larger shopping centres of Clacton-on-Sea and Colchester.
