Fownhope : Fownhope was just known as Hope in Domesday becoming Faghehope in the 13th century its naming probably deriving from 'small enclosed valley'. The village is set on the banks of the River Wye in an area of outstanding natural beauty and about six miles south-east of Hereford. The Court is a beautiful Elizabethan mansion nearby and the village has two pubs, two hotels, a fitness leisure centre, garage and local shops.
