Callington was mentioned in Domesday as Calwetone and belonged to the King with 180 sheep. It is a quiet market town about nine miles south of Launceston with several ancient monuments nearby including Dunpath Well in a 15th century chapel dedicated to St Ethelred. The area is also well known for its mining remains but today it is only Granite that is quarried. The town has expanded considerably in the last few years.
