Bude is a seaside town in Bude Bay on the north Cornish coast about 15 miles north-west of Launceston. It is situated at the mouth of the River Neet and has wide sandy beaches fronting the Atlantic swells making the town popular with surfers. Bude Castle, built by Sir Goldsworthy Gurney in the 19th century, was the first structure to be successfully built on shifting sands.
