Retirement Properties Spotlight in Wisbech

Wisbech was mentioned as Wisbece in Domesday and belonged to the Abbot of Ely. It stands on River Nene and there is a museum on the site of the old castle reputedly destroyed in a flood in the 13th century. The town has long been an important centre for the fen country's fruit and flower markets and is famed for its elegant Georgian architecture. From the North and South Brinks an impressive array of houses look out across the quays and and the river the most notable of which is Peckover House built in the early 18th century and displaying some fine rococo plasterwork.
