Melbourn was mentioned in Domesday as Melleborne and belonged to the Abbot of Ely with a mill. The area has long been settled with Roman remains being found and a Saxon cemetery. The village has a number of shops and All Saints Church is listed Grade II and dates to the 12th century. The Prime Meridian runs to the west of the village.
Facilities include non-resident management and emergency alarm service. There is also access to a communal room and a laundry room.
