Hauxton is an old village situated on the River Cam about five miles southwest of Cambridge. Its name is thought to derive from 'farmstead of a man called Hafoc'. In the 10th century it was owned by King Edgar and at the time of Domesday belonged to Ely Abbey before being dissolved with the dissolution of the monasteries in the 16th century. St Edmunds Church was built in the 12th century and is listed Grade I.
