Retirement Properties Spotlight in Uxbridge

Uxbridge : Uxbridge lies off the River Colne close to the Buckinghamshire border and the Grand Union Canal passes through the town. Its name seems to derive from 'bridge of the Wican tribe' and for much of the Middle Ages it was an important corn centre and for over two hundred years produced most of London's flour. It later developed partly through its good communications with London and the Underground arrived in the early 20th century leading to further urbanisation. It was once a popular haunt of Dick Turpin.
