Find retirement developments in some of the finest towns and villages in Stony Stratford
Stony Stratford is an attractive town just off Watling Street and a few miles to the north-west of Milton Keynes. The later is mentioned in Domesday as having a mill and was known as Midueltone. Today Stony Stratford has good local shopping with an attractive high street on the old London Road. Communications are good with several major roads converging nearby and fast trains to London (Euston) taking about forty minutes.
Milton Keynes itself is a thriving town close to the M1. The area it now occupies was designated a New Town in the late 1960s and has seen fast growth with new industries and residential areas to the west of the old village of Milton Keynes. One of its great successes is the open university which today is the UK's largest university for part-time higher education.
