Prestwood : Prestwood is first mentioned in the records of Missenden Abbey in the twelve century and was known as 'Prestwude' later becoming 'Priestwood' in the first Ordnance Survey map. In 1849 the parish of Prestwood was recognised having originated from a group of hamlets belonging to the Parishes of Hughenden, Great Missenden and Stoke Mandeville. 'Prestwood Common' is a name still used for the district and has survived until recent years on a post box in Wycombe Road adjacent to Giles Gate.
Giles Gate is situated off Wycombe Road close to the centre of Prestwood.
