Colyton is mentioned in Domesday as Cuiltone and is an attractive old market town with a good range of services situated on the River Coly in an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty in East Devon. About half a mile away to the north is Colcombe Castle - the former seat of the Earls of Devon and now demolished. St Andrew's Church is a beatiful Grade I listed Norman church
