Richmond is about nine miles southwest of London and for many years has had Royal connections. Elizabeth I died at Richmond Palace built by Henry VII at the start of the 16th century and around which the town developed. There are many beautiful Georgian and Queen Anne houses and the park covers over 2000 acres. The town centre has numerous good shops, inns and restaurants.
