Retirement Properties Spotlight in North Finchley

Finchley is recorded in the 11th century as belonging to the Bishop of London and its name probably derives from the late Anglo-Saxon for 'Finche's clearing'. For many years it remained a small farming community and in the 18th century Finchley Common was well known for successful Highwayman who travelled the Great North Road. The area developed considerably after the coming of the railways in the 19th century.
